1. Product description

Germicidal UVA LED Plant Lamp ultraviolet light supplementation. UV spectrum (from 350 to 385nm with a peak at 365nm). Connection ultraviolet from another main lamp from the series, will allow for even more more efficient crops and maximizations growth, coloring and flowering of plants. Regular the use of ultraviolet affects DNA change living beings such as pests and insectsthat targeted our plant. Ultraviolet light limits mold growth through damage Fungal DNA. Plants under ultraviolet light receive a small amount a dose of stress, which translates into their growth and better downloads nutrients -plants have deeper colors.

*IMPORTANT*
– LED UVA plant lamp should work together with another lamp to mix spectrum.
– Don’t look in glowing diodes
– Use the lamp only for 3-6 hours a day (we will describe the relationship in point 7 – example 1 and example 2)
– The lamp may give the impression that it gives little light – this is a false impression, ultraviolet light mixes up Together

The lamp requires a power cable to operate properly. You can find it in several different versions in the “lamp accessories” tab. You can also create your own cable by purchasing a “half” cable from the store and connecting it to the power cable. More details can be found on the “half” cable subpage.

Aluminum construction: commonly called a “radiator”, it works like a simple radiator, dissipating the heat that is generated during the operation of our lighting.

4. Color/Spectrum – What are the benefits of ultraviolet?

Spectrum ultraviolet A, from 350 to 385nm in peak 365nm.

Ultraviolet A is the main component of solar radiation, its supplementation can increase the growth and quality of plants grown at home.

Ultraviolet supplementation will increase production biomass, leaf size and color, exposing plants to ultraviolet light causes the plant to produce antioxidants and absorbs elements from fertilizers better, thanks to abiotic stress, which activates secondary metabolism in the plant.

The graphic diagram below (on the right on a green background) concerns the incidence of UVA/UVB rays on the leaf structure (1), thanks to UVA/UVB, antioxidants (3) are produced in the leaf cell (2), the course of which affects the plant in the way described above.

Below there are also two tables and a photo of lettuce. (We suggest opening the tables from the gallery to zoom in on the text) The tables and photo show control samples performed by researchers from the United States and China on the influence of the 365nm wavelength on plant cultivation.

A brief description of the study and an explanation of what the tables contain:
– The first lettuce is the control lettuce, grown without ultraviolet light UV 365nm
– The second lettuce was grown with ultraviolet light intensity of 10umol/m^2/s
– The third lettuce was grown with ultraviolet light intensity of 20umol/m^2/s
– The fourth lettuce was grown with ultraviolet light intensity of 30umol/m^2/s

The tables show the composition biochemical leaves and growth of three lettuces treated different doses of ultraviolet light compared to the control lettuce. Even the smallest dose of 10umol/m^2/s increases leaf weight by 10g, plant size by 240cm^2, and leaf volume compared to the control sample (illuminated without 365nm UV) – just look at the photo of the lettuce, which shows that their leaf volume has increased. (Comparing the data in the table, this is 26%)

Additionally, the table with the biochemical composition shows that the plants they have more vitamins and minerals in their leaves which translates into their taste and nutrient delivery.

When using ultraviolet we also increase amount of essential oils, plants that are exposed to its effects have more fruit and flowers.

So the lamp perfectly suitable for plants whose growth is a priority for us. These may be difficult specimens, whose growth is free, collectible plants, vegetable plants such as peppers or tomatoes – to increase the production of leaves or flowers and fruits, or herbs and lettuce or even seedlings, the initial growth of which determines the yield or growth of the plant in later stages.

5. Example lamp combinations

UV supplements the safest is to connect with another, main lamp for plants to mix the light intensity, this will allow avoid burns or leaf damage. Below are some schemes using our lamps with a mixed light color (sunlike) or cold color (6500k) together with UV supplementation or with deep and far red supplementation.

6. Diodes and their arrangement

The diodes used are quite well-known EPISTAR 2835.

Additionally, we decided modify the board on which they are mounted. What does this mean? Typically, in most grow lights, the diodes are arranged at equal distances from each other and come in various configurations, such as diode next to diode (one behind the other) or diode next to diode (in series). It doesn’t matter whether the diodes are one behind the other or in a row, but in our opinion they are big their distance from each other is important and how it relates to the distribution and dispersion of light.

If we pay attention to the graphic below and on lamp on the right side – we can see that the arrangement of the diodes at equal distances from each other causes the central plant to receive much more light than the plants next to it, after some time it may result in the plant “outgrowing” the center and taking away light from the plants on the sides. Moreover, with this arrangement of diodes, the most light falls in the epicenter, so the center is lit very well, but the light is not that well dispersed. (Which is important when growing collectible plants in this case).

Our lamp, which is on the left, has diodes spaced at three different distances from each other, depending on the location on the lamp. (Looking from the left side of the lamp: the concentration of diodes is large and begins to disperse towards the center of the lamp). The concentration of diodes into three different segments and their gradual dispersion allows distribution of lamp power into 3 sectors, This results in well-dispersed light along the entire length of the lamp. This helps avoid the “hot-spot” phenomenon.

7. Useful tips

What is the suggested area where the lamp works effectively?
30cm LED UVA Plant Lamp with Ultraviolet Light Cover area 45x45cm from a height 30-50cm. (The differences in height are due to the change in light intensity – different intensities can produce different effects – see point 4 – photo of lettuces, we recommend a height of 30 or 40 cm)

* If you want to illuminate a larger area, e.g. 60×60, increase the supplementation time from 3 hours to 5 hours a day and hang the lamp at a height of 50 cm.

At what height should the lamp be hung?
The lamp with ultraviolet light should be hung on height 30-50cm.

How long should the lamp run in hours per day?
A lamp with UV supplementation should work 3 hours a day together with another main lamp – preferably mixed colorwhich we have available in our offer, in the mixed color lamp there is also ultraviolet of the wavelength 400nm, which in combination with 365nm supplementation gives even better results.

Example 1)
Main lamp with mixed color
 turns on at 9:00, after about 2 hours the 365nm supplemented ultraviolet lamp is turned on, for 3 hours, after 3 hours it turns off and the main lamp works until 7:00 or 9:00 p.m.. And this cycle repeats itself every day.

Example 2)
Once our plants get used to ultraviolet light, (after approximately 3 weeks of supplementation, 3 hours a day) you can extend the lamp operation time from one 3-hour session to two 3-hour sessions. When main lamp will turn on
at 9:00, after 2 hours the lamp with light will turn on
ultraviolet for 3 hours, it will turn off, then after another 3 hours
you can turn on the UV lamp again for 3 hours.

Is ultraviolet light safe for eyes and skin?
You can stay in the room with a lamp on, which is located in a grow tent, display case or on a shelf. It is important, however, To do not expose our body on prolonged contact with ultraviolet light, it’s best to turn off the lamp when we need to look at the plants and turn it on again when we’re done. You should also avoid looking directly at the lit diodes., the light beam from the lamp may seem weak, but it is actually there and affects the cell structure. (In point 4 there is a photo where a 365nm UV supplement lamp has a visible light output).

8. Connecting lamps together in series

Lamps can be connect together in seriesthis eliminates the need to use several cables with a plug and/or socket connecting several timers to several lamps. The lamp is double-sided, which means that the power cable is connected on one side, which powers the power supply built into the lamp, and on the other hand we can connect a connecting cable to connect the lamp to the lamp in series or a connecting bridge, which will create a direct connection of the lamps to each other. (The graphic below illustrates the connection method).

You can combine lamps of different lengths with different light colors, as long as the total power does not exceed 140W.

If only one lamp is to be used, it is possible to terminate the other side with a plug, which is included in the set.

*Connecting cables for lamps must be purchased separately if the connecting length is to be longer than the skein/adapter included in the set.

9. Various power cables for the lamp

For the lamp you can choose from: three different power cables. Due to the fact that you asked for longer cables (The previous one had only 1.5 m long) we decided that we would now focus only and exclusively on the lengths of 300cm and 250cm (counted together with the socket and the lamp input).

– Standard ON/OFF power cable
– ON/OFF power cable with timer (3,6,12g)
– Standard double ON/OFF power cable (in this case the length to the switch is 202cm, a branch is created from the switch into two lamps, which is 48cm)

*The power cable must be selected separately from the store’s offer.

10. Mounting options and additional accessories for the lamp

There are actually several options for mounting the lamp, the simplest ones include using:
– Cable ties or cable ties
– Hot glue
– Strong double-sided tape
– Using the brackets from the kit and screwing the screws into a wooden strip or shelf

I also know that Some of you asked me about various other options for mounting the lamp without assembly, I tried to choose the most universal and proven solutions to no need to bother with drilling into walls or your favorite shelves, because the concept can always change.

The offer that will help you illuminate your plants also includes:
– Stand with thick acrylicwhich has the possibility shoulder adjustment, which means you can set it at a height of 30 to 62 cm and adjust it to the growth of your plants
– Clip with flexible arm, which will allow you to illuminate plants on a windowsill or shelf, for example. Simply attach it to the edge and use the handle to grab the lamp and place it above the plants.

11. Operating conditions

– Use only indoors at temperatures between -10 and 40 degrees.
– Use in places where there is free air circulation around the lamp.
– Do not leave it in a place where there is a possibility of exposure to sunlight (this may damage the diode panel due to high temperature).
– Do not use dimmers other than the one built into the lamp (so-called dimmers that increase or decrease the voltage).
– Do not use on electrical installations without surge protection.

12. Initial product testing and European standards

The lamps are marked CE which means that the product has successfully passed specialized tests and meets the basic quality and safety standards as well as the marking RoHS, which informs that new electrical equipment introduced to the market in the European Union contains restrictions on the content of harmful materials.
